We're in for a snow day here in Colorado. I'm loving it! Hope you enjoy your Sunday wherever you are!
Yesterday consisted of me being lazy most of the day after working late the night before, and then finding the need to get out of the house right when it started to snow fairly hard. Not my best idea, but I made it just fine, as I shopped in the snow. I feel like this is retribution for sort of a lame winter. Its supposed to continue to lightly snow through noon. I wish it would snow harder now that I'm cozy in the house!
We finally got Rosetta Stone for German yesterday! We had been holding off on ordering it because its sooo expensive. Jason was able to find a coupon though, through Facebook of all places, and decided to just go for it. I did lesson 1 last night. It seems cool. I can't remember every word it showed me, but I trust that there's a method to their madness. Auf Weidersehen! This was my Valentines present to my beer-fanatic husband this year. A heart-shaped assortment of beers to try. All the ones around the outside of the heart have either red labels or are Irish Red beers :)
Its been a busy couple of days! The above picture was from General's bath on Friday. All part of our pre-company prep work! Can you tell I've been starved for company? You'd think it was a bigger deal than it really was. I just like entertaining.
I'm back from San Antonio and although it was a good (and productive) trip, I'm glad to be home and am looking forward to sleeping in my own bed! I hope everyone had a great weekend! Can a day be exhausting if you barely left your house (and don't have kids)? I felt like yesterday was mentally exhausting.
An unexpected experience to do contract work for a former employer has shaken my quiet little bubble. In just a few hours I had a job offer, a flight booked, and meetings scheduled. It's a good opportunity because it will allow me to work from home and still explore other interests on the side. However, I feel a little behind the curve, as I wrap my head around these recent changes and all they entail. My daily schedules for the next couple months will be drastically different than I had originally thought! Bringing in money is always good though. Wish me luck! Yesterday on Design Sponge, there was a post featuring all things Boulder, written by a homesick Boulderite about how cool her town is.
I love Boulder and tend to gravitate that direction instead of Denver. Boulder is much more approachable in my opinion and it reminds me somewhat of Austin. I thought this little blurb in the Design Sponge post perfectly summed up this town I've grown to love: "For a long time, Boulder got a bad rap as the patchouli-scented free-love enclave that spawned Crocs, but it’s much more than that. The college town, endorphin mecca and tech hotbed is the kind of place where it’s impossible to get bored, sit still or go hungry. It was ranked the foodiest city in the country by Bon Appetit in 2010; is home to scores of creative thinkers, thanks to the University of Colorado; and is situated at the base of some of the most beautiful mountains in the world. Boulder has grown up and gotten classier, and its hippie roots have shaped it into one of the most progressive, sustainable and fun places in the country." ~Design Sponge We've eaten at A LOT of restaurants in Boulder, but the article had some new ones I haven't tried yet. I've added them to our Colorado Bucket List! The above photo is from the Dushanbe Tea House in Boulder, which she lists as a must see and I agree! I decided to finally make the table runner that I bought fabric for last spring! It always takes much longer than I expect, but I think it turned out pretty good. Its very springy!
I purchased the fabric from Pink Door Fabrics on Etsy. I've decided to start a new website! I have been blogging on A Broad Abroad for 4 years now (wow!) and it has been so much fun. I started the blog when my husband and I moved to the Middle East as an easy way to share our experiences and adventures.
Since then, we have moved back to the States and are currently living in Colorado. I still wanted to continue to share over a blog, but the theme of A Broad Abroad didn't always make sense with the type of posts I wanted to write. SO, I decided to make this fancy new site that allowed me to continue to explore and share my diverse interests. I hope you'll continue to follow me on this adventure! Now that the holidays are over and everything is pretty much back to normal, I have to figure what my world is going to look like in the new year. I'm now unemployed and am not sure what I want my next move to be. After my last job didn't turn out the way I had hoped, I find myself a little frustrated and feeling like I need something to revitalize me.
While my epiphany awaits, I've signed myself up for some photography classes and am going to start exploring other areas of interest. I'm trying to enjoy the time off while I can and am making some headway on the little things I never have time for (I've had two successful attempts at curling my hair, I've been going on runs every other day, we joined costco and I'm avidly working on my talent for cooking on a budget, and although I haven't started organizing - I've got a great start on a to do list :) I love and am passionate about design, but I just need to find another forum to practice it in that is more fun and rewarding! So here's to a new year of adventures and discoveries! |
